Leafbirds, all of which belong to genus Chloropsis, resemble bulbuls; but leafbirds are brightly plumaged. Leafbirds usually feed in the canopy, eating insects and some fruit and nectar. Their predominant color is green and thus it is hard to see them in the leaves, hence their name. The male leafbird has a distinct mask, while the female's is less bold or nonexistent. Their nests are found on the ends of branches near the tree crown. They are found in broadleaf forests in south and southeast Asia.

These are bulbul-like birds of open forest or thorn scrub, but whereas that group tends to be drab in colouration, fairy-bluebirds are sexually dimorphic, with the males being dark blue in plumage, and the females duller green. These species eat fruit, especially figs, and possibly some insects. They lay two to three eggs in a tree nest.
