WATERFOWL of the world

Dabbling Ducks

Order Anseriformes    Family Anatidae

Dabbling / Dipping Ducks do not totally submerge when feeding. Teals also belong to the Genus Anas, but they have been given their own menu tab. Dabbling ducks have evolved to be more buoyant than diving ducks. Aside - most birders identify this type of duck as "Dabbling Ducks". I think "dipping" conveys the same information plus is more readily visualized by the average person.
